Bioflocculation is a dynamic process resulting from the synthesis of extracellular polymer by living cells. In this study it was researched production, characterization and practical application of exopolysaccharide-based bioflocculant by a novel bacterial strain Bacillus simplex PBB-17 isolated from saline soil. Comparative analysis of 16S rRNA sequence identified the isolate to have 99% similarity to Bacillus simplex and it was deposited in the GenBank as Bacillus simplex PBB-17 with accession number MH165385. In addition, FTIR spectrum was obtained for partial characterization of the exopolysaccharides synthesized by Bacillus simplex PBB-17.
